Two children are making their escape from a Rio de Janeiro slum after accidentally becoming involved in the murder of a local villain. They take refuge in an American businessman's home and take the family hostage. Like a cross between City of God and Dog Day Afternoon, the children soon have their hostages sympathy and before long the Police, a national TV station and the American Embassy are involved in resolving the situation. Amusing and tragic in equal measures and featuring spirited performances from the child actors this is unpolished gem of Brazilian cinema.
